Ok! My original intention when I learned about MotorCity Comic Con, was all about Raphael Sbarge (I’ll put him in Trek context, Michael Jonas in Voyager. I was cheering on his character mind you, lol) and soon enough Walter Koenig (Chekov, ST: TOS), Marina Sirtis (ST: TNG) and Robert Duncan McNeil (ST: V) were added.

We first greeted Walter when he arrived. He is a tiny, quiet man who didn’t seem too thrilled to be there but I shook his hand. When Marina arrived we went over and (mind you) I am new to Trek and I’ve not seen any behind the scenes clips of her. I did not expect the loud, brash British accent that greeted me. Her first words to me were to compliment me on my assets and commend me for dressing for my figure (this woman did wonders for my self esteem). We then discussed weird body things and we got hugs and wandered off. Robert Duncan McNeil didnt show up until after we left that day. I didn’t meet him until the last day when I was saying good bye to Marina who was such a love to us. My sister talked to Robert the most. They were discussing Smash because he directed some of it and shared his personal videos with us of a performance he had directed. He recorded through the viewer and also just the stage. He was so sweet.

Now for the panel!

We had been in the Colin Baker panel and stayed. So did a lot of other people, but what pissed me off is that they weren’t there for Trek OR Colin. They were there for the Boondocks Saints which was an hour later. So they were hogging good seats. Beyond that, I ended up with good seats.

The three arrived, and began the panel. I can’t remember all of it and had I had better seats I would have recorded. But the highlights were:

Walter answered his phone, Marina called him out and Robert faked it was him calling Walter. It was actually his wife and Marina was shouting her hellos in Walters ear (basically).

Marina made it clear she wasn’t pleased with JJ’s Trek. She also said she would never do a fanfilm or do it for free. She said if she could pick anyone to played Deanna in the reboot (if there was one) it would be Mila Kunis. She also hated the Worf/Deanna moments and insisted that was all Michael’s doing. But she calls him “Dorney” and says he’s her best friend while in the States.

Robert says he loves directing more than acting and discussed how even a random scene in Chuck he appeared in, he wanted to be behind the camera. Marina says he has gotten better looking with age and is very correct on that.

Walter was REALLY hard to hear even with the microphone so I didn’t get much or him but at one point he went to talk and we heard all this loud woo-ing from outside so she got up to go shush them (there were people behind the curtain waiting in the endless line to meet Norman Reedus) and figured out they weren’t the ones being loud.

As you see Marina was the most vocal of the group. But I’m personally grateful to have met these three. It was truly an honor and I’d say if you have a chance, do it!

I know this maybe an early post but alas I must be at work all day so I’m hoping to generate some thoughts while I’m gone (I’m never truly gone, yay iPhone).

because Universe Alterations would be a good name for when your characters are in the exact same universe but you’re altering just a couple of plot points or a few character traits
